Commercial Refrigeration

In traditional commercial refrigeration systems, the most common architecture is the use of compressor racks. These systems are typically installed in machine rooms or on building rooftops, distributing refrigerant through copper piping to the evaporators of display cabinets, enabling zoned cooling across the facility.

These systems integrate compact water-cooled condensing units directly into each display cabinet and connect them through a shared water loop to outdoor dry coolers or heat recovery systems, enabling space heating and domestic hot water supply for buildings.

Advantages of Water-Loop Plug-in Systems:

High Flexibility and Optimized Operation

Each display cabinet is equipped with an independent condensing unit, allowing system performance to be adjusted based on seasonal changes, operating hours, and defrost requirements. Most systems utilize inverter-driven compressors, enabling each unit to operate at optimal COP (Coefficient of Performance) and significantly improving overall energy efficiency.

Precise Temperature Control for Optimal Food Freshness

Independent temperature control provides more precise thermal management compared to traditional systems, helping maintain food freshness and display quality.

Kaori’s microchannel BPHE series (R, B, and C Series) have demonstrated high maturity and reliability in commercial refrigeration applications. When applied in water-loop plug-in condensing units, they effectively meet stringent requirements for performance, stability, and durability.

Use of Natural Refrigerants to Reduce Carbon Emissions

Plug-in condensing units are increasingly adopting environmentally friendly refrigerants with low carbon footprints, such as:

R290 (Propane) and R744 (CO₂)

Combined with high-efficiency and compact brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHE), these systems reduce refrigerant charge, enhance safety, and support corporate decarbonization and carbon neutrality goals.
