Air Drying

Kaori’s Refrigerated Air Dryer brazed plate heat exchanger is a first in the industry with innovative design for compressed air drying. It combines a pre-cooler, evaporator, and separator in a compact unit while providing high thermal transfer performance with low pressure drop. The patented separator design dehumidifies compressed air and eliminates the need for a demister to avoid clogging problems. Common Reasons for Damages in BPHEs

Brazed plate heat exchanger is formed with chevron plates and vacuum brazed with copper, it contains very compact and special structure. Two fluids can perform high efficiency heat exchange with very little temperature difference, it is also corrosion resistant, pressure resistant, compact, high efficient. It is widely used in HVAC, hydraulic cooling, heat recovery…ect, and acting as a very important role in energy saving and carbon emission reduction in major industries.

Brazed plate heat exchanger normally has long lifetime under suitable working conditions, however we still need to be cautious about the followings that may cause rare damages. Kaori’s BPHE team has more than 30 years of experience in helping system designers and users to use BPHE properly, so the lifetime is maximized, making it economical and satisfactory for customers. 

Freeze Failure of BPHEs in the Air to Water Heat Pump

BPHE is made by several SUS plates(0.3~0.4mm thickness) with copper brazing. Although its design pressure (normally is 30 or 45 bar) is quite high as well as the burst pressure (more than 5 times the design pressure).  Because the water volume will be expansive when water freeze to ice, the deformation of plate or of the exterior of BPHE will be happened even the break.
