Supercritical CO2 Extraction

reads

In the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, extraction processes have traditionally relied on organic solvents. In recent years, many advanced technologies have begun utilizing the high solubility and permeability of supercritical CO2 to replace organic solvents. Since CO2 has a relatively low critical temperature of only 31.7°C, high reaction temperatures are not required, and it is less likely to chemically react with the extracted substances. These advantages make supercritical CO2 extraction one of the key technologies actively developed worldwide.

Kaori’s newly developed C-type plate heat exchanger can be applied in supercritical CO2 extraction systems, functioning as a CO2 liquefier or liquid subcooler. Compared to conventional heat exchangers, Kaori’s C-type plate heat exchanger offers a more compact size, higher heat transfer efficiency, and easier installation. It has already been successfully adopted by multiple extraction equipment manufacturers.
